Musical Improv I: Sound-Play!

Six Week Course | Adults Only (18+)Explore the surprisingly accessible and freeing power of making music through play. In this musical improv foundations course, you’ll discover that improvising music isn’t far away at all—it’s an extension of breath, rhythm, sound, and imagination. Through games and guided exercises, you’ll build comfort using your voice and body as instruments, while connecting with others in joyful musical collaboration.
Over 6 weeks you’ll learn techniques to:
- Play with breath, rhythm, and vocalization to unlock natural musicality
- Develop a solid vocabulary of musical tools through fun sound-play exercises
- Craft rhythmic ideas and simple melodic lines
- Construct basic musical form in the moment
- Incorporate dynamics and explore your vocal range
- Understand foundational harmonic progressions (just enough to play freely)
- Deepen skills in deep listening and ensemble music-making
- Gain confidence—whether you’re an improvisor, musician, or brand-new to music
Important Details
- Prerequisite: None
- Schedule: 6 sessions (once per week for 6 weeks)
- Class Length: 2.5 hours per session (15 hours total)
- Class Size: Limited to 14 students for personalized attention
Tuition
- Regular Tuition: $297
