Six Week Course | Adults Only (18+)
How do a group of diverse individuals seem to predict each other’s moves, connect effortlessly, and co-create as if sharing one brain? How does that warm, familial sense of “we” emerge—and how do you sustain it? In long-form improvisation, this phenomenon is called Group Mind, and it is essential to creating ensemble-based theatre that feels magical, intuitive, and alive.

In this Level 5b course, you’ll deepen your ensemble awareness through a six-week group process supported by emergence theory, chaos theory, family systems theory, and experimental theatre exercises developed by San Francisco’s The Committee. Through this work, you’ll cultivate trust, presence, and genuine in-the-moment play that leads to collective intuition—what many improvisors call “group think.”

Over 6 weeks you’ll learn techniques to:

  • Develop heightened ensemble awareness and attunement
  • Build trust and cohesion through experimental group exercises
  • Understand the principles of emergence and how they shape group behavior
  • Strengthen intuitive, moment-to-moment response within an ensemble
  • Create spontaneous group movement, ideas, and story patterns
  • Sustain the feeling of a connected, supportive “improv family”
  • Experience the joy, power, and magic of true Group Mind

It’ll blow your group mind.

At the end of this course students perform together in a student showcase.
