Six Week Course | Adults Only (18+)
Del Close—legendary improv teacher and director from San Francisco’s The Committee and Chicago’s iO—famously urged improvisors to “play to the top of your intelligence.” In this Level 4 course, Leela carries forward that tradition by training improvisors to bring clarity, specificity, and personal insight to their work.

Lessons focus on pattern recognition, thematic awareness, and the integration of your own lived experience. By weaving together the personal, political, and universal, you’ll learn to create improv that leans forward—bold, thoughtful, and theatrically compelling.

Over 6 weeks you’ll learn techniques to:

• Practice specificity and make meaningful, intelligent choices
• Connect patterns and recognize emerging themes in your scenes
• Bring your personal perspective and wisdom into the co-creation
• Slow down, think on the spot, and elevate your scene work
• Create theatre that illuminates, challenges, and transforms
• Build work that resonates deeply with both performers and audiences

At the end of this course students perform together in a student showcase.
